Raised on Oahu, around the ocean
Craig Hoffmann grew up on Oahu around the ocean, bodysurfing at Sandy Beach with his older brother, Derek. He earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in communication, with an emphasis on video, television and film production and editing.
In 2006 he produced and directed Freddy P. Project: Interrogation with Fred Patacchia Jr. A year later he produced and directed The Seven Mile Miracle, a Christian surf film shot at Pipeline, Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay, with a gospel message by Pastor David Blevins.
With Derek he co-founded Sandy Beach Productions and made Fiberglass and Megapixels (2010), a documentary about the photographers and cinematographers who work the North Shore every winter. Craig co-produced, co-directed and edited it. The film won Best Surf Film and Best Editing at the 2010 Byron Bay International Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Editing at the X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival.
Craig has also worked on the sets of major feature films and TV shows in Hawaii, among them LOST and The Descendants, in the grip, electric, props and set dressing departments. Today he is a producer and editor for the Nalu Film Foundation.
